AMD confirms the Ryzen Threadripper 7000

AMD has just removed a large part of the doubts about the durability of its HEDT Threadripper range. Not long ago, many thought that this CPU family was doomed, however some signs left hope. But this time AMD has officially confirmed the launch of Ryzen Threadripper 7000 in 2023, powered by the Zen 4 architecture. This Thursday, June 9, AMD shared its Ryzen CPU roadmap for desktop and mobile during its day with financial analysts.

Threadripper 7000 The roadmap that AMD confirmed allows us to know a little more about the future of Ryzen processors as a whole. Regarding the Threadripper 7000, they could have up to 96 cores and 192 threads based on the 4-core Zen architecture and manufactured with TSMC’s 5nm process. Since the relationship with EPYC is more than obvious, we strongly suspect that a new platform should enter the fray. For EPYC, AMD will switch to its new SP5 socket. A new socket will also be designed for the Threadripper platform and could be identified as TR5 or SP5r2. The previous TR4 socket will be retired.

Threadripper 7000 Finally, unlike the previous generation that could not be found ( at least easily ) on the aftermarket, the next Threadripper 7000 will again be accessible to wealthy enthusiasts. Finally, some leaks mention the possibility of having dual-socket motherboards for the Threadripper. The situation is not yet clear from this point of view. The fact remains that the future TR5 socket (or another name) will be massive and even more imposing than the TR4. Concerning an objective estimation of the release date, several sources evoke a presentation for the CES 2023 (January). But here again, things are still very vague…
