The Ryzen 5 5500F:
In short, the 5500F is a flagship model designed for AM4 platforms. Its purpose is to round out the lineup of processors for this socket, which still supports DDR4 memory. As a reminder, AM5 is only compatible with DDR5, and when you consider the price of a 32 GB RAM kit using that standard, it’s clear that AM4 still has a bright future ahead of it.
In short, the CPU is based on a Vermeer die, which means it supports PCIe 4.0. With that, you can count on six cores and twelve threads based on the Zen 3 architecture. Finally, the clock speed reaches 4.4 GHz, while the thermal design power is 65 W.
The Ryzen 5 7500, a 7500F with an iGPU:
With the 7500, AMD offers a CPU with a configuration similar to that of the Ryzen 5 7500F. Consequently, this model features six cores and twelve threads based on the Zen 4 architecture.DDR5 support is, of course, included, and PCIe 5.0 is also supported. The boost clock reaches 5 GHz, all with a thermal design power of 65 W.
Prices:
Amazon US lists these processors at $120 for the 5500F and $210 for the 7500. These prices are $20 above the MSRPs of $99 and $189, respectively. In Europe, the 5500F is listed on Amazon France for €126.87, but this is from a third-party seller.
