[UNBOXING] ASRock ARC B570 Challenger OC

[nextpage title=”Introduction:”]

It’s no longer a surprise to anyone: the Intel ARC B570 will be available on 16 January 2024. After our test of the Intel ARC B580 Limited Edition, we’ve just received a very interesting card, the ASRock ARC B570 Challenger OC. Although no price has yet been announced, apart from Intel’s US dollar price of US$219, the card is already listed in several online shops, with a release date of 3pm on January 16, 2025. To our knowledge, there will be no B570 model produced by Intel on the ‘Limited Edition’ model.

Thanks to Intel France and ASRock for making this copy of the ARC B570 Challenger OC available to us.

Arc Battlemage: two models for launch

We’ve already reviewed the B580 model, and in a few weeks’ time it will be this ASRock ARC B570 Challenger OC. These two Arc Battlemage models feature the second generation of Xe cores. As you might expect, these will be more powerful, and there will be fewer of them than in the previous generation. Here’s a slide showing the differences between the two models.

Our example of ASRock’s ARC B570 Challenger OC has 18 Xe2 cores and 18 ray tracing units. It will have 10 GB of GDDR6 memory with a 160-bit memory interface, providing a bandwidth of 380 GB/s. The GPU frequency is announced by Intel as 2500 MHz, but we know that our B570 Challenger is an OC model with a GPU frequency of 2600 MHz. As far as TDP is concerned, the B570 has a TDP of 150 watts. The Intel ARC B570 will go on sale on January 16th, 2025 at a recommended price of US$219. It remains to be seen how much this ASRock ARC B570 Challenger OC will cost, as we’ve already spotted it at €260.

Packaging:

So here we go with the discovery of this ASRock ARC B570 Challenger OC graphics card. If you’re a graphics card addict, you’ll have noticed that this model has the OC label on the front, and that’s pretty good news.

Inside the box is the bare minimum: our copy of the ASRock ARC B570 Challenger OC card and a quick installation guide.

ASRock ARC B570 Challenger OC:

In terms of proportions, this B570 model from ASRock is shorter than Intel’s B580 Limited Edition. This model measures 249 x 132 x 41mm and will occupy 2 slots. On the front, there are two 95 mm fans with 11 blades, and a rather unusual design with numerous ridges. The idea is to optimise cooling. The card is equipped with 0 dB technology, which leaves the fans idle if the temperature is not too high.

As was already the case with the ARC B580 Limited Edition version, which we thought was already quite light at 785g, this ASRock model weighs in at 722g. Aesthetically, the card is really sober, but with a small backlight on the top edge. Note that this can be deactivated using the switch on the back of the card.

On the rear, there’s a black steel backplate with the words Challenger. It’s easy to see that the PCB is shorter than the cooling system. The end of the radiator and the second fan will improve heat dissipation. To power this ASRock, you’ll need a single 8-pin connector. Intel is retaining the use of ‘traditional’ power connectors, and all the better for it.

Finally, when it comes to video outputs, there are three DisplayPort 2.1 and one HDMI 2.1 port.

See you on January 16th at 3pm to discover the performance of this ASRock graphics card. And don’t forget that when you buy an Intel ARC B570, you’ll receive a copy of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, due for release in February.
