14400F vs 13400: refresh is 5% faster!

The Core i5 14400F, Intel’s future entry/mid-range model, shows off. The CPU showcases its performance through the integrated CPU-Z benchmark. In fact, nothing transcendent, especially when compared with the previous generation of CPUs.

14400F: only 5% better than a Core i5 13400 on CPU-Z!

Core i5 14400FBroadly speaking, the 14400F is a CPU with a total of 10 cores (6P4E) and 16 threads. As for its operating frequency, it will reach 4.7 GHz. Compared with the previous generation, notably the Core i5 13400, this newcomer doesn’t offer any major innovations. The frequency is boosted by just 100 MHz, while the core configuration is similar.

On CPU-Z, this is reflected in the benchmark, with a single-core score of 765.5 pts versus 6730.3 pts for multi-core. According to Guru3D, this represents an increase of 4.9% in single-core and 2.1% in multi-core performance over the 13400.

As we’ve seen, this small difference is justified by the lack of evolution between the two generations. With 100 MHz more, we can’t expect much more. However, this 14th generation is clearly a filler until the real novelty arrives next year.

It’s also worth noting that this model has yet to be announced by Intel. Obviously, we’ll have to wait until CES 2024 to find out more about them. In the meantime, we’ll have to make do with the i5 14600K, i7 14700K and i9 14900K, models we’ve had the opportunity to review.
