Apparently, a redditor was able to get his hands on a sales page for Intel’s Arc A580, a graphics card not yet on the market, but already seen in benchmarks. However, some things don’t add up. Contacted by our colleagues, the seller has not given any sign of life.
Arc A580: a scam on Aliexpress?
If we refer to the advert, we find a card with an 8 GB memory capacity and a 256-bit bus – so far, so good. However, the image on the advert is wrong, as it’s an Arc A770 Limited Edition. What really sets us off, however, is the selling price, which is completely off the mark. At $335.99, the card is more expensive than an A750, which sells for €250 in France. What’s more, they don’t hesitate to advertise an Arc A310 with 8 GB of VRAM when the official card runs at 4 GB.
Another element to take into account is the seller’s reviews, which are clearly mixed. Clearly, the products are expensive and sold in poor condition. Several returns concerning graphics cards indicate dirty and sometimes faulty GPUs… Most probably mining rejects. Not to mention the vendor’s poor communication.
In short, it’s hard to take such an announcement seriously.
