NVIDIA’s large quad slot graphics card cooler continues to be the talk of the town. Indeed, after much speculation as to its destination, new photos have surfaced. It appears that this heatsink, possibly intended for the (cancelled) RTX 4090 Ti, was hiding a third fan!
RTX 4090 Ti: the heatsink featured a third fan!
A whole new batch of photos of this famous heatsink has surfaced. This time, we can admire this imposing cooling system without its fairing. And it appears that it was equipped with a completely insane number of heat pipes: 22 in all, according to the owner. What’s more, there was also a steam chamber – quite a room!
What’s more, its disassembly reveals the presence of a third fan. This is sandwiched between two stacks of fins/ducts. The latter is quite simply invisible as long as the card shell is present.
Last but not least, the other little dinguerie concerns the 12VHPWR power connector. In fact, it’s simply offset on the heatsink, with an extension cable pulled right up to the PCB. The solution is completely unsound, given the sensitivity of such a connector, but let’s not forget that the PCB was originally designed to offer a different positioning to the one we have today.
