This time, we turn to Jonsbo who offers us a really impressive model, the HX6250. And imposing, it is, especially because of its format: a 140 mm particularly thick. So, we go around the product, we and we look at what it gives at the level of temperatures and noise!

Presentation :

Unfortunately, Jonsbo is not the most talkative brand as regards marketing. The page dedicated to the product is more than sober and the brand does not praise its product like other manufacturers… But, right from the start, we can see some interesting aspects of this model.

First of all, we find a heatsink with an eccentric copper base. The aim is clear: to avoid problems with the memory and avoid overflowing the memory slots. Still related to RAM, the first fins have also been shortened to remain fully compatible with motherboards whose memory is located on both sides of the socket.

Despite the presence of a 140mm fan, the height remains rather limited since we are at 162mm. Of course, this is still higher than the usual 160 mm, but it is still reasonable for the format.

Finally, we can expect a good level of performance given its size, very imposing and its large fan. This HX6250 model has six heat pipes and a 140mm fan working at up to 1800rpm. Nevertheless, we can expect that the noise is also there.

And finally, the aesthetic aspect is particularly well cared for with a completely black color and without RGB lighting. A model that could clearly speak to lovers of sober products like us. Jonsbo HX6250For the price, Amazon lists the product at more than 100 € against a little more than 70 € for the marketplace of La Redoute or Conforama. But if you want the best price, look at Caseking.de where it’s only €59.90! [nextpage title=”The Jonsbo HX6250″]

The packaging remains sober, like the product. We will find an illustration of the HX6250 with a reminder of the characteristics on the sides of the box and that’s all. Don’t look for any kind of highlighting of the features, there are none.

However, inside, the cooler is very well protected with a black foam protection. The fan and the accessory part benefit from cardboard overpackaging. Anyway, no breakage or bent fins on arrival.

Radiator:

The current trend is to reduce the size of the heatsinks, we felt it during the tests of the AK500 and AK400. Here, a big surprise when we unpacked this heatsink of considerable size!

Weight and dimensions

With its HX6250 Jonsbo announces a huge heatsink measuring 144 mm wide against 121 mm deep. The height is 162 mm which is still relatively compact considering the size of the fan. Despite this, it should be able to slide into your case without too much difficulty. But keep an eye on this aspect when ordering.

The weight is also important since this set weighs more than 1 kg on the scale. The Chinese brand announces 1150 g more precisely, a weight similar to the AS500 Plus from DeepCool!

The base

Jonsbo HX6250 base

In view of the dimensions, fortunately we find a base strongly off-center towards the front. The objective, you will have understood, is not to overflow on the memory slots of your motherboard. Logically, to see during the assembly, all the slots should be free after installation.

Otherwise, we notice a large quantity of copper heat pipes from this famous base. Here, they are six in number and measure six millimeters in diameter. They join at the level of the aforementioned base which is out of nickel-plated copper whose completion is very clean. Again, the traces of machining are very fine and are almost not felt to the touch.

Finally, the base is of considerable size since it displays 4.1 cm x 4.4 cm, enough to cover the entire IHS of any mainstream processor!

The radiator

Seen from the side, you can clearly see that the base is off-center since the whole stack of aluminum fins is shifted towards the back. Moreover, be careful since this creates an imbalance, be careful that the radiator does not fall backwards. This phenomenon is particularly accentuated when the fan is not present.

Otherwise, we can count on a total of 50 aluminum fins to dissipate the heat. As you can see, the first eight are shortened to limit the impact on motherboards with memory slots on both sides of the socket. And at the back, the latter are in the form of slots which presents well.

Finish

The finish is clearly at the top with a full black coating. It is found absolutely everywhere: on the fins and the copper heat pipes. On the top, we have a removable cover to hide the heat pipes tips and the mounting holes. This cover is made of brushed aluminum and anodized in black and includes the logo of the brand.

Compatibility

We now come to talk about the compatibility of the sockets of this heatsink. On this subject, Jonsbo mentions:

  • Intel : LGA-115x – LGA-1200 – LGA-1700 – LGA-2000
  • AMD : AM4

Here, the compatibility is not exemplary since the high-end sockets from AMD are missing. So there will be no TR4 and derivative compatibility here.

The fan

Ventilation is provided by a single 140 mm fan, which is quite imposing. Unfortunately, the mill is unknown to the public since it has no particular reference, impossible to find it on the brand’s website.

On the other hand, we will retain its very sober design with a nice frame with many diamonds on the sides. Likewise, it has a silent block to reduce as much as possible the parasitic vibrations during the operation. However, the cable is flat and black, so there is no sheath… Too bad.

As you can see, the blades are seven in number and are rather large… Especially at their end.

Jonsbo HX6250 ventilateur

Concerning its characteristics, the fan benefits from a PWM power supply. Initially, it offers an operating speed between 700 rpm and 1800 rpm. At full speed, the airflow will be 90.2 CFM and the static pressure will reach 2.74 mmH2O.

Alternatively, you can reduce its speed with an L.N.A. adapter. With this device, the speed is drastically reduced to between 400 rpm and 1200 rpm. The air flow and static pressure also drop: 57.81 CFM and 1.14 mmH2O respectively.

Bundle:

Jonsbo HX6250

The accessory part rests in a small cardboard box and features :

  • An assembly manual
  • Four steel claws allowing the assembly of two fans
  • A long screwdriver
  • A spatula to apply the thermal paste
  • A syringe of thermal paste from Thermal Grizzly!
  • One L.N.A. adapter
  • Screws and arms/backplate for mounting the steel heatsink

As far as the accessory part is concerned, no particular criticism to be made since Jonsbo provides everything necessary for the assembly. The brand goes a little further by offering a set of claws in addition, the screwdriver and the adapter to reduce the speed of the fan. Finally, we highlight the presence of paste from Thermal Grizzly, a guarantee of quality.

Roughly speaking:

Clearly, the HX6250 surprises by its dimensions and its finish, it is imposing, it presents very well and it is sober. The accessory section includes everything you need for mounting, and even a little more. In short, it’s perfect so far, let’s see what it looks like on the installation side! [nextpage title=”Installation”]

For the installation part, you’ll have to keep your AMD backplate, the manufacturer doesn’t provide one. If you don’t have one anymore, a quick look on eBay should allow you to find one easily.

The HX6250 assembly :

So we start with the assembly on Intel platform and the first step is to prepare the backplate. For this, we have the backplate in which we pass long mounting screws. These are maintained with plastic washers. Be careful with the distance applied and the type of screws used, some are used for mounting on socket LGA-1700.

Then, we put the backplate on the back of the motherboard. Once done, we put spacers on the four corners of the socket, where the screws come out. Then we fix the mounting arms with the small hand nuts. Finally, we put the heatsink on the processor that we screw on the mechanism.

On an AMD motherboard, we will start by removing the original mounting arms of the motherboard. Then, we place four spacers at the four corners of the socket and attach the mounting arm. After applying a small amount of thermal paste on the processor, we finish by fixing the HX6250.

However, like theAK500 from DeepCool, there is a “trick” to screw the cooler. Indeed, the assembly will be done without the fan and without the top cover. In this way, we can access the clamping screws on the tongue of the base! Jonsbo HX6250

The assembly itself is simple, there is not really a particularly complicated step. Nevertheless, if the HX6250 does not block RAM slots, for PCIe, it is another story. Indeed, this model covered the first port on our Crosshair VI Hero! [nextpage title=”Protocol”]

Small update of our test protocol. Indeed, we changed the software we were using to stress our configuration. The same goes for the different profiles. By the way, you will see that our configuration has recently received a new power supply. It is a RM750x from Corsair. Of course, we will always focus on temperature and noise measurements. Jonsbo HX6250 protocole

For the purpose of the test, we will compare the HX6250 with other single tower models in 120mm, 140mm and even large dual towers:

  • AK500 (DeepCool)
  • AS500 Plus (DeepCool)
  • Assassin III (DeepCool)
  • Dark Rock 4 (be quiet!)
  • HX6250 (Jonsbo)
  • Hyper 212 Evo (Cooler Master)
  • NH-D15 chromax.black (Noctua)
  • NH-U12A chromax.black (Noctua)
  • NH-U12S chromax.black (Noctua)
  • Pure Rock 2 (be quiet!)

[nextpage title=”Speed and noise”]

Fan speed :

So we start our series of temperature readings, here, we start from zero. Let us specify the fan speeds recorded during our readings (for 12V, 8V, 5V):

Jonsbo HX6250 vitesse ventilateur

Regarding the operating speeds, no surprises, the 140mm fan turns out to be rather fast. At full speed, we note a speed of about 1750 rpm against 800 rpm at low speed. The mid-range speed is 1300 rpm. In fact, we have a fan that is a little bit slower than the AK500 from DeepCool!

Noise :

Jonsbo HX6250 bruit

Unfortunately for our ears, the 140mm fan is particularly audible at full speed, as we recorded 44.5dB under these conditions. This is louder than an Assassin III with two 140mm fans or an NH-U12A with two NF-A12x25. Fortunately, by reducing its speed, it can be made quiet, especially at low speed where it does not even tickle our sound meter. Nevertheless, at mid-range it is still too noisy compared to the competitors. [nextpage title=”Temperatures”]

Processor at 65W

Despite a more violent 65W profile, the latter still represents the least stressful phase of this protocol. It allows to highlight the performances obtained with compact/entry-level heatsinks. These results are only indicative for the largest heatsinks (AIO, large dual tower, etc.). Jonsbo HX6250 températures 65W

When it comes to temperatures, the HX6250 from Jonsbo does well. At full speed, it does as well as a Dark Rock 4 or a DeepCool AK500. At low speed, we read 43°C with temperatures that don’t really take off at mid-range, which is equivalent to the much more compact DeepCool heatsink.

Processor at 95W :

Here, our CPU will run at 3.90 GHz constantly and on all its cores. We apply a VCore of 1.375V to obtain a consumption of 95W approximately. To simplify the reading of the graph, we may have rounded some values to the nearest integer. Jonsbo HX6250 températures 95W

At 95W, the Jonsbo heatsink shows a very good score at high speed since it offers similar performance to the excellent NH-U12A from Noctua. At mid-range, the Jonsbo heatsink stays in the ranking, but at low speed, it falls down to the level of theAK500. Remember, it has only one fan, unlike the Assassin III, the NH-D15, the AS500 Plus and the NH-U12A!

Processor at 125W :

Finally, we finish with our 125W profile. Here the heat release is more important, let’s see how our coolings do! Jonsbo HX6250 températures 125W

At 125W, still at full speed, our model is very well positioned against the competitors. Again, it gets temperatures equivalent to the AS500 Plus and NH-U12A. On the other hand, at low speed, we feel that it starts to lack breath and gets closer to the AK500. The same is true at mid-range.

Summary

As we have seen, the HX6250 is very good thermally at its highest speeds. Nevertheless, at low rpm, it does a little less well than the competition and comes up against the much more compactAK500 from DeepCool. At low speeds, the fan struggles to compete with the push/pull configurations of the competition. However, don’t get me wrong, the results are still very good, at least on the thermal side. [nextpage title=”Temperature/Noise Ratio”]

On these perf/noise ratio graphs, we remind you that the best is to be placed as much as possible at the bottom left of the graph. For the reading, the left most point symbolizes the ventilation in 12V, the one in the center the ventilation in 8V and the right most in 5V.

Jonsbo HX6250 températures/bruit 65W

Clearly, if your processor does not consume much current, there is no need to run this model at full speed. It will clearly be noise “for nothing”. In this case, you should run it at maximum around 1300/1400 rpm to get the best out of it.

Jonsbo HX6250 températures/bruit 95W

In 95W, once again our model of the day is penalized by a too excessive noise. Compared to the competition, it has difficulty to impose itself, especially at full speed where the curve points ” to the moon “. However, at half speed, it can make the AK500 and AS500 Plus sweat a lot.

Jonsbo HX6250 températures/bruit 125W

With a power consumption of 125W, even if the temperatures are good, the Jonsbo fan is again penalized by its excessive noise. As it is, it doesn’t compete with the best fans of our selection… Although it eats the Dark Rock 4 from be quiet! and tickles the AK500 from DeepCool at  low speed. [nextpage title=”Conclusion”]

We are coming to the end of this test of the HX6250 signed by Jonsbo. Are we dealing with a successful product? Let’s see it in detail!

A very attractive design !

With its HX6250, the Chinese brand Jonsbo hits hard in the field of aircooling type heatsinks. Indeed, this model offers a very neat aesthetic with a full black coating. The finish is also good and overall, this model strongly reminds us of the products of the brand be quiet! by their visual aspect.

Nevertheless, the brand does not stop there since it does not hesitate to put forward a complete accessory part. We will find the tools for the assembly, screwdriver in head, and even what to install a second fan. And the little surprise was the presence of Thermal Grizzly thermal paste where we expected to find a no-name model.

Beware of the dimensions

The assembly is really not complicated, you just have to follow the instructions. In general, in a few minutes the cooler is ready to work. However, pay attention to its dimensions, even if the height is quite limited, for a 140 mm model, it is an element to watch for your case. The same goes for the ports on your motherboard, if the memory is not affected, it is not impossible that the first PCIe slot is obstructed.

What about the performance?

Jonsbo HX6250 protocole

Thermally, the temperature is good when the fan is running at high speed. As we have seen, this model manages to compete with Noctua models such as the NH-U12A or theAS500 from DeepCool. However, when the operating speed is reduced, it is a little more difficult. In these conditions, theAK500 does just as well despite its much more compact size. The fan seems to lack punch at  800 rpm. A second fan would not have been superfluous at low rpm.

Unfortunately, this high performance is accompanied by significant noise pollution. On its own, the fan is louder than dual-tower 140mm references as well. If you appreciate silence, you will have to drastically reduce its operating speed.

60 € for such a monster!

Despite all this, Jonsbo offers a well-considered price for its cooler. If you look hard enough, at Caseking.de you can get it for about 60 euros, a very good price. At this price, we have theAK500 from DeepCool, which is less efficient at high speeds, but quieter. A reference to choose if you want “performance”!

Jonsbo HX6250

We like:
  • The very neat aesthetics of this heatsink
  • Its good level of finish
  • The very complete accessory part: screwdriver and set of claws in addition
  • The thermal paste signed Thermal Grizzly
  • The simple assembly
  • The eccentric base, the heatsink does not overflow on the RAM
  • The temperatures at high speed in absolute
  • The silence at low speed
  • The price of 60 € well studied
We liked less:
  • The fact that it blocks the first PCIe of the motherboard
  • The imposing dimensions of this model
  • The noise quickly present
  • Temperatures that deteriorate at low speed

We choose to award silver to the HX6250 from Jonsbo. Even if we have a very neat fan with a very complete accessory part, it is still imposing and will block a PCIe

on the motherboard. Similarly, its high noise level at high rpm can be annoying for some people despite the controlled temperatures in these conditions. At low RPM, it is quiet, but more compact models do as well. Nevertheless, it remains a good choice if you have the space and you want performance above all!

Many thanks to Jonsbo !
