The 9800X3D processors continue to fail, with AMD showing little concern, as we still have not received a transparent explanation from the manufacturer. In the meantime, two new reports on Reddit mention failed processors on ASUS motherboards, rather than ASRock motherboards as had been the case until now.

Clearly, nothing seems to protect theseCPUs fromcertain death. Indeed, an initial report from user rahfikirucku indicates a dead processor after a few hours of gaming. However, he did nothing extraordinary with his CPU; he simply playedArc Raiders untilthe machine froze. After ahard reboot, the motherboard, a high-end Crosshair X870E Hero model, displayed adebug code of 00. In short, this means CPU failure. Obviously, the configuration never restarted, and theCPU shows no signs of burning or significant swelling… It just went into “cardiac arrest.”

Another case reports a CPU that died after a year of loyal service. This is all the more shocking because the processor died without any warning signs. Once again, the motherboard was an ASUS model, an ROG Strix X870E-E Gaming, and again, the debug LED showed error code 00. On the BIOS side, he claims to be using a BIOS that is 5 months old. This time, the user had his processor tested by a repair technician, who confirmed that the processor was dead. However, he had an interesting discussion with the technician, who said that he had encountered more than 20 similar cases.

For now, we still don’t know what is causing the processors to die in this way, and neither AMD (which doesn’t seem too concerned) nor the motherboard manufacturers have a definitive solution. Objectively, even if AMD replaces the hardware, this does not change the fact that it causes a considerable loss of time between making contact, exchanging emails, recognizing the problem, and sending a replacement CPU. This can mean going without a PC for several days or even weeks.
