Philips announces the arrival of two new productivity-oriented displays. For this, the brand offers its 40B1U5600 series with the 40B1U5600 and the 40B1U5601H. The second one has an integrated webcam with a noise-cancelling microphone!

40B1U5600 series: two UWQHD displays from Philips!

Philips 40B1U5600For the blow, these two monitors signed Philips want rather imposing with their diagonal of 39″. Moreover, they adopt a 21.9 display format with a UWQHD resolution of 3440×1440. This display is done via an IPS slab, not necessarily as responsive as what we find in the gaming world… But more than a “basic” screen since we can reach 120 Hz via USB-C, against 100 Hz in HDMI. Despite everything, the latency is 4 ms gray to gray.

In terms of display, both references offer a typical contrast of 1200:1 against 50,000,000:1 in SmartContrast mode. However, there is a small difference in brightness from one model to the other, as the 5600 is 500 cd/m² against 300 cd/m² for the 5601H. Otherwise, the sRGB coverage is 121% for both displays, but we don’t have the same HDR certification. Again, the 5600 is better off in this respect with DisplayHDR 400 against DisplayHDR 10 for the 5601H.

However, in terms of equipment, the 5601H is probably more interesting. Indeed, it integrates a 5MP webcam with attenuation microphone and the whole thing is Windows Hello certified. Ah, and the proximity sensor of the screen will allow a bigger energy saving: up to 80% against 75% for the other model.

Just like the Asus ROG Strix XG49WCR, we have a built-in KVM switch allowing the management of two PCs via a single keyboard/mouse combo. Likewise, they both have a headset support and the 5600 will be able to adapt its brightness according to the ambient lighting.

Now, you should know that the prices are not particularly pleasing. We will retain a price of £649.99 for the 40B1U5600 against £739.99 for the 40B1U5601H.
