New world memory frequency record with a RAM kit pushed to some 12,196 MT/s! Taiwanese overclocker Kovan Yang has snatched first place from Safedisk, the former record holder, with his 12,111 MT/s memory!
12,196 MT/s: a new record to beat!
To achieve such a frequency, the overclocker used dedicated hardware. In this case, we’re talking about an XOC motherboard, the Z890 Unify-X from MSI, a model with two DIMMs specifically designed to boost RAM frequency.
As for the RAM, the clocker turned to a Fury Renegade memory kit from Kingston, which was overclocked to 12,196 MT/s, or 6097.6 MHz. The timings were 48-120-120-127-2. To achieve this, liquid nitrogen was used on the memory.
To get an idea of the overclocking applied here, remember that the default memory was running at 8400 MT/s with a CL40.
As for the processor, a Core Ultra 7 265K was used. However, the screenshots show that the chip was only running on two cores/two threads, all at a frequency of 400 MHz.
In short, ever since overclockers started using CUDIMM-type memory, the frequency records have been coming thick and fast. It remains to be seen how far this will go!
This way to Kovan Yang’s record!
