The Steam survey for March on the hardware used by gamers has just been released. For the record, what is the typical machine of the platform’s gamers? We peel it all back!
Steam: the RTX 3060 is the most massively used CG!
According to the platform’s survey, hardware from Intel and NVIDIA dominates by far. Indeed, 82.6% of users use a graphics card from the chameleon and 74.46% an Intel CPU. Note that in March, AMD’s hardware suffered a violent setback compared to previous months.
So, in general, gamers are mostly using an NVIDIA card, yes, but more precisely an RTX 3060. If until now the RTX 2060 and GTX 1060 dominated, this is no longer the case. Indeed, the small 3060 is used by 10.44% of users. It is followed by the RTX 2060 (8.05%) and the GTX 1060 (7.85%).
For the CPU part, now we learn that models with six cores are in the ascendancy since they represent 46.59% of users. Typically, machines with Ryzen x600 or Core i5 8600K/12400/12500 for example.
Finally, as for RAM, 56.92% of machines have 16 GB of memory.
To summarize, the typical gamer’s machine on Steam has :
- Intel CPU with 6 cores clocked from 2.7 GHz to 2.99 GHz
- 16 GB RAM
- RTX 3060
- A full HD screen
- And a storage support of 1 TB
