Announced several months ago, the Thermal Grizzly DeltaMate GPU is back in the news. This waterblock is part of the range of the same name and was initially intended for the ROG Astral RTX 5090. As the release of this first block approaches, the brand is already announcing a second model, this time for the RTX 5080.
Thermal Grizzly DeltaMate: a range under development
While the DeltaMate name originally referred to the GPU waterblock designed for the RTX 5090, this is no longer the case. Since Computex 2025, we’ve known that this is a range in its own right for Thermal Grizzly. It will soon include a CPU waterblock and the second GPU block we’re talking about here. The external design is more or less the same as that of the RTX 5090 model, since the two ASUS ROG Astral boards share the same form factor and PCB dimensions. We find the same massive waterblock, with inputs/outputs at the ends. But that’s where the similarity ends. As usual, Thermal Grizzly is aiming for top-of-the-range, made-to-size solutions. As such, the majority of internal components have been modified to fit:
- the RTX 5080 die being smaller than RTX 5090 die,
- the different VRM (power supply stages) and VRAM (video memory) layout between the two models.
Details and availability
Inside the DeltaMate, we discover a nickel-plated copper coldplate. The 0.20mm microchannels are the same as those found on Mycro CPU waterblocks . The assembly kit is supplied, from the thermal pads to the manufacturer’s paste (Duronaut). At this stage, the prototypes have been completed and are in the process of being validated. Performance tests should last around ten days before the launch of full-scale production. Availability is estimated for the third quarter of 2025. No pre-orders are possible at present. The price is currently unknown.
