The GTX 1630 of 2022 = the GTX 1050 Ti of 2016

0

Nvidia has just officially launched its GTX 1630, which is obviously only justified to annoy Intel and AMD who are coming to the entry level with the RX 6400 and the A380 respectively. The manufacturers were quick to unveil their custom versions seasoned with RGB gaming as usual. If returning to the entry level is not a bad thing because this segment has suffered even more during the last two years, it should still bring some novelties. But precisely in the area of performance, it’s dead plain and Nvidia is very very discreet on the subject. Nevertheless, some figures point to an unflattering comparison with the antediluvian GTX 1050Ti, from the Pascal family, launched in the year of grace 2016… For the record, this card at its launch had an official price of $ 139 while the new GTX 1630 will be at $ 159 (obviously if you are lucky and without all the RGB / Gaming sauce)

GTX 1630 vs GTX 1050Ti
Figures officially transmitted by inno3D

According to the figures transmitted by the manufacturer Inno3D, the GTX 1630 should provide gaming performance comparable to the GTX 1050 Ti. Obviously, there is a bit of fresh product on this 1630 since it has a more powerful multimedia decoder, supporting VP8 or H.265 (HEVC) codecs. This is not the case for the GTX 1050Ti. So it’s hard to give a positive verdict on this card when Videocardz reports that EVGA’s GTX 1630 SC will cost $199, while Colorful has officially stated that its model will be sold for $169. Let’s hope at least that this card is actually available, that could be the only satisfaction.
