Here we are, after the lukewarm launch of the Intel Core Ultra 200S a fortnight ago, AMD is launching its AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D , a processor in which it has high hopes and which is eagerly awaited by many users. This new processor, part of the new generation of AMD Ryzen 9000, is the successor to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which is still certainly one of the best choices for those looking to equip themselves with a gaming configuration . AMD is also likely to offer a Ryzen 9 9950X3D, but probably not before Q1 2025.
We’ve updated all our test platforms with the latest version of Windows 11 24H2, as well as all the BIOSes for our three test configurations. So we’re off to see what this new AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D has up its sleeve against the competition from the blue, but also from the latest generation of 9000Xs.
Thanks to AMD for making this copy of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D available to us. As part of this test, AMD also supplied us with an X870E motherboard, an SSD containing an image of Windows 11 and a G.SKILL 6000 MT/s CL28 memory kit. We’ll come back to these various components in the ‘Test protocol’ section.
