Last February, we told you about a rather absurd situation where a customer ordered a RAM kit and received ten of them. This time, it’s the same thing, but with Western Digital SN7100SSDs. Once again, a user ended up with an order that was misinterpreted by the seller. Well, if the extra units aren’t claimed, he’ll be the big winner.
SN7100: Ordered one, received ten!
An error in order fulfillment:
We saw this in the previous case with the Corsair RAM, but it seems this kind of error isn’t all that rare. In fact, instead of taking a single item from the box, the order picker grabs the entire box bearing the same barcode as the item and sends it to packing. If it’s an Amazon order, this kind of error can be explained by the fact that there’s likely no communication between departments during the different stages of the order. Especially since employees are pressed for time, so mistakes happen quickly.
A windfall for the customer:
Assuming this story is true (since it’s ultimately just a Reddit post), Bat-Dragon-666 is clearly in for a treat with his ten SSDs. Indeed, with such a haul, he has enough to set up a small NAS, equip several PCs, or configure a few of them in a RAID array in his main setup—that much is certain… Or, he could always resell the surplus to upgrade his setup, for example.
As a reminder, Western Digital’s SN7100 is a high-end PCIe Gen4 SSD. Currently, we’re seeing it here for around €200. So, by receiving ten of these SSDs, it’s as if he’d just won €1,800! In short, what a stroke of luck!
