Rumors of a potential RTX 5050 9GB have been circulating for some time. The card is aimed at entry-level configurations and wallet-conscious gamers. However, while initial reports indicateda launch for Computex, it would appear that the launch of this card has been postponed. In the meantime, another model will be taking over, the RTX 3060.
The RTX 3060 will take up the slack while we wait for the RTX 5050 9GB!
The launch of the RTX 5050 9 Go uncertain?
As a reminder, the new RTX 5050 was to see its memory bus amputated and its GDDR6 memory replaced by GDDR7. The gain in VRAM frequency compensates for the memory bus amputation, with bandwidth increasing from 320 GB/s to 336 GB/s.
However, according to a leaker, it would appear that the launch of this new RTX 5050 is uncertain. The card has reportedly been pushed back, forcing NVIDIA to make some adjustments. As a result, the RTX 3060 will be positioned as a new offering in the budget graphics card segment. Of course, the success of this operation depends largely on the card’s selling price. If it comes in at under $200, it could position itself as a credible alternative, especially as it does not support the latest versions of the Chameleon’s technologies. The card could make a comeback in June.
We’re talking about the 12 GB version:
As you know, the 3060 comes in two memory configurations: 12 GB and 6 GB. Currently, cards with 8 GB VRAM are starting to show their limits in recent games, as we told you here. So if the greens want to remain consistent, they’d be well advised to relaunch the 12GB version in order to have a card capable of running a few games, even if it means sacrificing some visual details so as not to see performance plummet due to a slightly old GPU. As a reminder, the card was originally scheduled for release in January 2021.
Finally, we remind you that there are also rumors of RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti 9GB. However, in the case of these two cards, the addition of 1 GB of extra VRAM is not necessarily good news. We explain why.
