In a podcast launched by GameStar Talk (in German), NVIDIA spoke about the launch of its cards. Of course, the interview also turned to the power connector problems. And according to NVIDIA, its cards are impeccable, the fault of the melted connector is linked to the user or its partners. In short, no questions asked, everything’s fine.
Burnt RTX 50s, it’s not NVIDIA’s fault!
Well, the podcast gets off to a good start with a speaker from NVIDIA telling us that the launch of its RTX 50s has been a success and that everything has gone very smoothly. In response to this, Der8auer is quick to point out the various problems that have arisen, particularly in relation to pricing, quantities available, software issues and melted connectors.
In fact, we get to the famous connector pretty quickly. The Chameleon briefly returns to the case of Inva6953’s card. The greens indicate that he used the wrong cable and that the brand of his adapter, Moddiy, advertised that it should not be used. However, this is untrue, as the brand launched a revised version after the event – in other words, not a very serious statement.
In the end, the brand’s representative told us that the company’s cards were working as they should. If there are any problems, it’s because of the cables/adapters or the power supply manufacturers.
Naturally, in view of these statements, Der8auer is seeing red, since it was one of the first to notice a problem with load distribution between the pins of this connector. What’s more, the PCB is no longer as secure as it was in the days of the RTX 3090/Ti, and it’s incomprehensible that the company should make the same mistake twice, the first time being with the RTX 40.
In short, it’s a case of hazardous communication on the part of a company that doesn’t seem to want to question itself. What does it cost to say “OK, we made a mistake, here’s a revised version of the cards with greater security, enjoy!
