RTX 4070 Super, 4070 Ti Super, 4080 Super and RTX 4090 graphics cards could be affected by a drop in stocks due to production problems. These are said to be linked to the memory used on these graphics cards. Indeed, recent reports point to a significant drop in production of Micron’s GDDR6X.

GDDR6X is a more efficient memory type than standard GDDR6, and is used exclusively by Nvidia. GDDR6X is used on some Nvidia graphics cards, notably models 4070 and above.
However, since July, supply problems have been reported due to manufacturing faults with this memory. These are said to be caused by a quality control problem. Nvidia, for its Founders Edition models, as well as custom graphics card manufacturers such as MSI, Asus, etc., would therefore be affected by a drop or interruption in memory chip stocks.
Officially, Nvidia has indicated that the reduction in stocks of 4070 and higher models will only affect the Chinese market, but it seems possible that it will also affect other regions of the world, such as the European and American markets.
What’s more, according to several leaks, it would appear that the Greens want to reduce RTX 4000 production on all models anyway, in anticipation of the upcoming release of the RTX 5000, whose launch date has not yet been scheduled. This could mean higher prices and reduced availability over the coming weeks and months.
