RTX 40 Super: performance/price ratio improved by up to 27%!

NVIDIA will soon be announcing and launching its RTX 40 Super series throughout January. We’ve already had a chance to talk about them, but the latest rumors point to a greatly improved perf/price ratio. We’re talking about an improvement of up to 27% in the case of the RTX 4080 Super!

RTX 40 Super: the good news of 2024?

Broadly speaking, with this series, NVIDIA will be dusting off its current range of cards. To this end, the company will launch three models:

  • RTX 4070 Super
  • RTX 4070 Ti Super
  • RTX 4080 Super

RTX 40 Super

Each model will offer a number of improvements, notably in terms of the number of cuda cores, which will be increased. The most obvious increase will be on the 4070 Super, which will go from 5888 cuda cores to 7168. This increase is made possible by the adoption of an AD103-175 GPU. However, there’s no change in terms of memory, with 12 GB of GDDR6X at 21 Gbps. Coupled with a price of $599, we expect a 13% increase in performance and a 13% rise in the performance/price ratio.

As for the RTX 4070 Ti Super, it’s the same story, with a change of GPU and an increase in the number of cuda cores. This time, the number of cuda cores would rise from 7680 to 8448, while the memory part would be revised upwards. In fact, the memory bus will be increased from 192 bits to 256 bits, and VRAM will be increased from 12 GB to 16 GB. With an assumed price of $799, the performance/price ratio would once again be improved by 22%, while performance would increase by 22%.

Finally, the 4080 Super would feature faster VRAM: 23 Gbps instead of 22.4 Gbps. However, there would be a slight increase in the number of cuda cores to 10,240 (instead of 9,728), resulting in a 6% increase in performance. However, compared with the current 4080, the selling price would fall to $999. This combination would increase the price/perf ratio by 27%! Incidentally, this is also the card that needed it most, given its deplorable sales record!

Of course, all this remains to be confirmed, but we’ll know for sure in the next few days.
