RTX 3060 Mobile: GPUs converted into a mining card!

With the mining, we see things… Between the motherboards measuring 50 km long, and the tinkering at the graphics cards level, it’s never-ending. In fact, that’s what we’re talking about today, a DIY graphics card. Indeed, a Chinese OEM is “having fun” transforming RTX 3060 Mobile into a PCIe card dedicated to mining!

RTX 3060 Mobile: cards converted to PCIe model for mining!

RTX 3060 MiningOnce again, the proposed card is far from the current standards of beauty, but this is not the purpose of the maneuver. Here, the goal is to offer something functional for mining and making money.

For this, a Chinese OEM had the good idea to take RTX 3060 laptops and turn them into PCIe graphics cards. Moreover, the idea is far from being stupid since it allows to get rid of the “LHR”. Indeed, only desktop cards are affected by this famous algorithm breaking the perfs in mining.

Moreover, this can be felt right away, the merchant selling his cards displays screens showing the performance of the cards. Thus, at the unit, one of these RTX 3060 displays 50 MH/s on Ethereum. As a reminder, an RTX 3060 LHR is 34 MH/s according to Tom’s Hardware.

Finally, let’s remember that this custom model is equipped with a mobile GPU, more complete than its desktop counterpart. The chip displays 3840 Cuda Core, 120 TMU and 48 ROP against 3584 Cuda Core, 112 TMU and 48 ROP for the desktop version. On the other hand, we have 6 GB of GDDR6 in 192 bits instead of 12 GB for the desktop version and a much lower TDP: 80W against 170W. In short, a particularly interesting power consumption/hashrate ratio.

Finally, to finish, these cards are sold between $545 and $570 with, we imagine, a decreasing price depending on the number of cards purchased. For comparison, an RTX 3060, in our country, at least, it’s 590 € at LDLC.
