The manufacturer HighPoint Technologies has announced a PCIe expansion card that is a bit unusual. Indeed, this card is equipped with a total of eight USB Type C 3.2 Gen2 ports. Very practical for uses such as multimedia, archiving or video recording.

In the program, we find a daughter card with a PCIe 3.0 x16 interface. Moreover, the latter seems to consume a minimum in view of the active heatsink. In addition, it also requires an auxiliary power connector in PCIe 6-pin. Each of the ports will be able to provide a power of 7.5W (1.5A) in addition to the consumption of 25.95W for the card alone. It is understandable why the power connector is needed in addition. Our eight USB type C ports are positioned on the PCI bracket of the card. Each of them has its own controller, which also allows them to reach 20 Gbps of bandwidth. Finally, the only negative aspect of this reference is its price, which is clearly not within the reach of everyone.
