Conclusion

It’s high time to come to our conclusion about the Corsair K100 Air Wireless. So, what did we think of it?

A very thin and light keyboard

With this new reference from Corsair, we are dealing with an ultra thin and light keyboard. Indeed, it also takes up much less space than the first K100, while offering many features. We also have an aesthetic keyboard, very neat, very well finished and with noble materials, like aluminum. Moreover, here the K100 Air Wireless is a wireless keyboard with an interesting autonomy. At the time of this test, we used it for more than 8 days without seeing its battery fail.

Nevertheless, compared to its big brother, we still lose a lot of assets. For example, there are no PBT keys, no palm rest, no optical switches, no USB offset… In short, many features that we liked on the K100 are missing. Corsair K100 Air Wireless

In use, be careful if you try to remove the keys of this reference. As with a laptop, it will be difficult to put them back on properly if the switch becomes dislodged.

On this K100 Air Wireless, we find 4 macro keys allowing to add some shortcuts or additional features. It’s great! Beside that, the iCUE software is still as functional, efficient and easy to use. This new K100 is also very pleasant to use and its switches remind us strongly of the keys of a laptop, while allowing a tactile feedback. Corsair also fixes one of the shortcomings of the first K100: the elevating legs that folded to the sides. On the old model, as soon as you moved the keyboard to the side, one of the two legs folded up. Here, this is not the case anymore.

How much is the K100 Air Wireless?

As I write these lines, the brand announces this K100 Air Wireless at a price of 299,90 €. For us, it is clearly the black point of this reference. As a reminder, the first K100 was at the time of our test around 250 euros that we found already expensive. We lose here a lot of features, while gaining a wireless keyboard, for an additional 50 euros … To pay such a sum, it will clearly seek expressly a keyboard of this type.

Corsair K100 Air Wireless

We liked:

  • Its very neat design, very aesthetic
  • The exceptional thinness of this reference, it is clearly passe-partout
  • The presence of noble materials (aluminum cover plate)
  • The additional macro keys (4)
  • The software iCUE always so complete and intuitive
  • That it is a very pleasant keyboard to use
  • That it stays in place thanks to its rubber feet
  • Its two-level elevating legs that no longer retract to the sides
  • The laptop-like typing is very interesting

We liked less:

  • The bundle is rather inexistent considering the price, a small carrying case would have been appreciated for example
  • No wrist rest available?
  • Its price, clearly not within the reach of all pockets
  • We would have appreciated some PBT keys like the K100 RGB
  • The absence of optical switches
  • The absence of a USB offset
  • That the switches are fragile and difficult to reassemble
  • No more control wheel
  • No more cable channels under the keyboard

With this K100 RGB Air Wireless, Corsair offers us an ultra high-end keyboard very neat and very aesthetic. It has many interesting features and noble materials (aluminum). Be careful though, as it loses a lot of things compared to the original K100. Moreover, its bundle

is rather inexistent for its price. In short, to adhere to this keyboard, you should clearly look for this type of model. At nearly 300 euros, you can’t go wrong. For us, it will be the bronze.

Thanks to Corsair !
