Manufacturer Singularity Computer has announced the PSU Penta-Node, a device that allows multiple power supplies to run in parallel. This accessory, which is clearly not for everyone, is particularly useful in multi-GPU systems. Of course, we expect to see it mainly in professional machines!

Penta-Node PSU: manage up to five power supplies in parallel!

Singularity Computer PSU Penta NodeIn some high-end systems combining multiple graphics cards, a single power supply may simply not be enough. This may tempt you to add power supplies in order to provide enough power to the machine. However, you can’t just plug one power supply into the motherboard and one graphics card, for example, and another power supply into other graphics cards. No, in this type of situation, you need a component that can activate and start the other power supplies, and that’s where Singularity Computer’s tool comes in.

Broadly speaking, it is a printed circuit board consisting of five 24-pin ATX connectors. When the main power supply is turned on, it will start the others (up to five units). Of course, depending on your needs, you may not need to run all the units, which is why there are switches to turn off unnecessary power supplies.

There are two operating modes: the first where all power supplies run simultaneously, and the second where the units remain in operation even when the main system is shut down.

Of course, this is clearly not the type of tool you will find in consumer PCs, since multi-GPU installations have been abandoned for video gaming purposes. However, it is useful in the professional sector, for people working in AI or for rendering machines, for example.

The price tag is $69.
