Last week, we learned that a not inconsiderable number of users were experiencing problems with their RTX 5090 (D). In fact, it has come to light that some cards find themselves bricked following a graphics driver update. The problem occurs often enough for NVIDIA to look into it. That’s what the greens told PCGamer.
“We’re investigating bricked RTX 5090s (D)!
As you know, NVIDIA launched its next-generation graphics cards on January 30. On the program were the RTX 5080, RTX 5090 and the China-exclusive RTX 5090D. However, in addition to ultra-limited quantities, users have to contend with driver update problems in the case of the RTX 5090 and its counterpart D. Indeed, following driver installation, it appears that a not inconsiderable number of cards find themselves inoperative.
The symptoms are simple: no display at startup, the screen remains hopelessly black. What’s more, the Device Manager doesn’t recognize any installed cards, and the same goes for the bios when you go to the Device Explorer.
At present, the cause of the problem has not been identified… If at first it seemed to be linked to the haphazard compatibility of PCIe 5.0, this is clearly not the case. On the other hand, it could well be linked to a driver compatibility problem… Or its architecture.
In the meantime, NVIDIA has (very) briefly told PCGamer that the company is investigating the case:
” We are investigating the reported issues with the RTX 50 series. “
It doesn’t get any shorter or more concise than that. If the chameleon is looking into this case, it’s because a non-negligible number of cards are affected by this problem. Knowing NVIDIA, the problem will be identified and corrected quickly. Finally, if you find yourself in this situation, don’t hesitate to contact the brand’s after-sales service… No choice.
