Nvidia prepares an RTX 3080Ti for laptops

Nvidia is preparing the launch of a new high-end graphics card for laptops to counter Intel, which will obviously be much more aggressive with its mobile GPUs than with its desktop versions. Will we see a 3080Ti in future laptops?

Nvidia would like to go upmarket again on laptops

This new version would be based on the GA103 (GN20-E8) GPU graphics chip. For the moment, doubts remain about the name that will be used by Nvidia for this card: 3080Ti, 3080 Super or 3090 Mobile… 3080ti pc portables

The GA103 GPU is not unknown, it is found in particular on the RTX 3070 Ti for desktop computers with 7424 CUDA cores, 1536 more than the RTX 3070 and 1280 more than the RTX 3080 Mobile. This graphics chip would be accompanied by 16 GB of GDDR6 memory and a 256-bit memory interface. Early next year, certainly for CES 2022, we know that Nvidia will launch its refresh of the RTX 30xx for laptops and desktops. This version of an RTX 3080Ti dedicated to laptops should therefore see the light of day during this launch.

Intel very aggressive on GPUs for laptops

The most interesting thing is that this will to go even higher in the range of cards for laptops is dictated by the arrival of Intel in the battle of GPUs. Indeed, according to our information, Intel should be more aggressive with its GPUs on the laptop market by offering solutions capable of competing with the RTX 3080 and RX 6800. At the same time, on the cards for desktop PCs, the blue would be content with the “fat” of the market with solutions to compete with the GTX 16xx until 3070 but not beyond.
