On the AMD motherboard front, we learn that new MSI BIOSes have been released by the brand. In addition to bringing better RAM support and integrating new AGESA code, we learn of support for future AMD processors. The question is, which ones?
New MSI BIOSes support future AMD CPUs!
In broad terms, these new updates feature the deployment of a new AGESA code. Version 1.2.0.3e of this code brings improved performance for Ryzen CPUs, but that’s not the only new feature of these BIOSes, as there are also a few minor improvements for RAM. Support for 4×64 GB RAM configurations has been improved, while 2DPC 1R compatibility has been optimized. There are also optimizations for Samsung 4Gx8 chips, but what interests us most here is support for future AMD processors. This line remains very vague, and we don’t know which models it corresponds to. The Zen 6-based Ryzens aren’t coming any time soon, so it’s pretty unlikely that this concerns these models. Are the reds planning to launch a new range of APUs with, why not, Ryzen 9000G? In contrast, our Chinese colleagues indicate that it could well be Gorgon Point CPUs, AI-boosted Ryzen AI 300s that could well see the light of day in AM5. In short, a matter to be followed, in the meantime, taking advantage of improved RAM support and small performance gains brought about by a new AGESA code, is always good to take!
