The Chinese market will also benefit from a Lightning version of the RTX 5090 D. However, the country will receive a version that complies with US sanctions, as MSI is working on an RTX 5090 D v2 Lightning Z. As a result, the card is expected to have less memory and a reduced memory bus. However, the card’s design should remain unchanged.
RTX 5090 D v2 Lightning Z: China is also entitled to its card!
In a video posted on the social network Bilbili, we can see the card being unboxed. In terms of form, the card is 100% compliant with the version available for the Western market. We therefore find a huge box that unfolds with the card sitting vertically in the center. The RTX 5090 D v2 designation is clearly visible on thepackaging, while the card itself appears to be identical to our version. It features a gold cover, a screen covering the front of the model, and cooling provided by a 360 mm AIO.
However, there are a few small differences to note in terms ofthe GPU. In order to comply with US sanctions, the Core has beenrestricted. It now only has a 384-bit memory bus and 24 GB ofVRAM, compared to a 512-bit bus and 32 GB ofmemoryfor the original chip.
Another important detail is the serial number, which in this case is 909. Remember that MSI has only produced 1,300 copies of its card. The question therefore remains as to how many units are allocated to the Chinese market and in what proportions these 1,300 copies are destined for China and the rest of the world.
In any case, this version still benefits from two power connectors and an extreme profile with a 1000W power limit. Note that a 2500WXOC BIOS has also been leaked, but be careful, it can crack GPUs if misused!
