MAG CoreLiquid R: beware of clogs!

MSI MAG CoreLiquid RMSI is therefore setting up a replacement procedure for its MAG CoreLiquid R watercooling kits in 240 mm and 360 mm. Obviously, some AIOs have a tendency to clog. If, in the context of liquid cooling, a leak can quickly become catastrophic, a clog is no better. Indeed, in a closed loop, if the liquid can no longer circulate, the heat accumulates in the CPU and it is overheating. On the other hand, don’t panic, if your configuration has a protection against overheating, your system will shut down to avoid damage.

In short, how to know if you have a problem with your watercooling kit? Simply by monitoring the temperatures of your processor. In the example given by the brand, in idle, the Ryzen 7 5800X of the capture reaches 62°C without doing anything. This is a sign that there is a concern related to the heatsink. Of course, make sure that the thermal paste is not dry and that it has been applied properly.

In case of problems, you will have to give the serial number of your kit (or of the PC in case of a pre-assembled machine). Then, the replacement procedure begins. And for that, you will have to go through this link.

Meanwhile, MSI says it is working with its suppliers to rigorously inspect the kits in the series. Apparently, the problem is related to the liquid used, which would promote deposits leading to a clogging of the kits.
