LG is making its mark on the gaming world with the unveiling of its UltraGear 27GX790A OLED monitor. The 27GX790A stands out for its 480Hz refresh rate, a first in the world of OLED monitors. According to the manufacturer, this frequency ensures unprecedented picture fluidity. With a response time of 0.03 ms, ghosting is a thing of the past.
480Hz OLED : A real step forward?
Featuring a 27-inch OLED panel with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440), this monitor offers vivid colors and deep blacks, characteristics typical of OLED technology. 98.5% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space guarantees faithful color reproduction, while 1,500,000:1 contrast and DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification ensure detailed images, even in the darkest scenes.
Connectivity and compatibility
In terms of connectivity, the 27GX790A is equipped with DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1 ports, enabling it to take full advantage of its 480 Hz refresh rate. Compatibility with NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technologies ensures perfect synchronization between graphics card and monitor, eliminating image tearing and jerkiness.
Design and ergonomics
The monitor’s design is rather sober, even if RGB is obviously part of the package to give it that essential gaming touch… With its slim edges and height-, tilt- and swivel-adjustable stand, it adapts to any desktop configuration. Availability and price
The LG UltraGear 27GX790A is available for pre-order at a price of $999.99 on the U.S. market, for the moment unlisted on the brand’s European sites. A special offer entitles first-time buyers to a $200 Mastercard virtual gift card. Shipments are scheduled for late December 2024…but there’s no indication that the timing will be the same in Europe.
