Despite the launch of new Arrow Lake Refresh processors for the mobile market, Intel is quietly introducing a Core i7 13645HX. This processor belongs to the Raptor Lake series and is positioned between the Core i7 13650HX and Core i7 13700HX. To achieve this, it features improved RAM support and a more powerful iGPU.
Core i7 13645HX: a CPU launched on the sly!
With this CPU, Intel offers a model featuring 14 cores—6P-cores paired with 8E-cores ( 20 threads). The processor runs at a maximum turbo frequency of 4.9 GHz, with a base power consumption of 55W and peaks of 157W. These are the same specifications as the Core i7 13650HX, but a few differences remain.
In fact, this newcomer offers improved memory support withDDR5 at 5600 MT/s, resulting in a memory bandwidth of up to 89.6 GB/s. In contrast, the 13650HX only supports memory at 4800 MT/s, and its maximum memory bandwidth drops to 76.8 GB/s. Another factor to consider is the iGPU, as the new model features a slightly more powerful integrated graphics solution with its Intel UHD Graphics P730, which has 32 execution units compared to 16 for the other CPU. Furthermore, the E-cores of this 13645HX are slightly slower and run 100 MHz slower than those of the 13650HX.
In contrast, the 13700HX is faster with a boost frequency that reaches up to 5 GHz. It also has more cache: 30 MB compared to 24 MB for the newcomer. Let’s say the 13645HX is an interesting choice for those who need higher memory bandwidth than the 13650HX offers, for video-related workloads, for example. Furthermore, the larger iGPU will allow for better gaming performance without resorting to a dedicated GPU, which is appealing if gaming is a secondary use for the laptop.
