In April 2022, Thermalright announced a new heatsink for M.2 SSDs. At that time, they offered their HR-09 2280 Pro an imposing model with an aluminum color. Today, the brand launches the black version with the HR-09 Pro Black!
HR-09 Pro Black: an imposing M.2 heatsink, but black !
As for the initial version, we are dealing with an imposing M.2 heatsink. This last one always measures 24 (W) x 86 (D) x 65 (H) mm. At the same time, it must be said that it has two G-shaped copper heat pipes and a number of aluminum fins. The latter are present in the number of 33, are spaced from each other by 1.8 mm and measure 0.4 mm thick.
However, the main novelty concerns the color which passes to the integral black. This color is found on the fins as well as on the heat pipes. This makes it more discreet in a PC.
As for the installation, you’ll have to be careful about the available space between the socket and the PCIe slots… Especially with an aircooling type of ventirad, it is not impossible that it gets stuck somewhere.
On the other hand, considering its dimensions, it should be able to cool efficiently SSDs in PCIe 5.0. Obviously, the first version was making coffee, a user feedback stating that a Samsung 970 Evo went from 56°C to 35°C after installation.
Anyway, still no price here.
