Bad luck for this Reddit user who was scammed when buying a new graphics card. He tried to buy an RTX 5090 Aorus Master from Gigabyte, but ended up with the wrong order. Instead, he received an old graphics card and a bag of rice and pasta… In short, it’s the classic trick, but one that always scares the hell out of us when it happens…
One RTX 5090 ordered, rice and pasta on delivery!
Usually, when you order such a card, you look closely at the order tracking and can’t wait to receive your parcel. And when you open the package, you’re thrilled, eager to discover the card you’ve bought… The emotional elevator must have been particularly violent when /Ok-Atmosphere7655 opened the parcel and saw the pasta and rice in the box. However, the scammer behind the package was a good sport about including a graphics card: an RTX 2080 Ti Ex from KFA² in the package. In short, you can imagine that the redditor didn’t look any further and contacted Amazon directly about this fraudulent package. He didn’t try to test the card, nor did he eat the rice or pasta he’d bought at such a high price. Unfortunately, this kind of situation does happen, even on Amazon. Here, the card was in “new” condition and the purchase came directly from Amazon. However, the package came from Spain. In short, the buyer doesn’t seem to have made a mistake here by going through a repackaged package or a marketplace seller who can set up this kind of scam. This situation is very reminiscent of the case where a purchaser of a Zotac RTX 5090 ended up with two shoulder bags instead of a graphics card. And yet, the purchase was made in a store.
