New hands-on, this time on a power supply unit. And this time, we’re treating ourselves to a decidedly high-end model, the Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition. As a reminder, this is the first power supply unit resulting from a collaboration between the Austrian brand and Seasonic!

Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition, a quick reminder:

Seasonic Prime TX-1600 Noctua Edition

With this power supply, Noctua and Seasonic have collaborated to offer a high-end unit while displaying the Austrian brand’s colors… Ventilation is provided by an NF-A12x25 fan, which is somewhat of a star among 120 mm fans. As we can also see, the power supply features a ventilation grille from Noctua. This is designed to reduce noise when the fan is running.

In any case, it is a high-powered model with 1600W on the meter. Its efficiency is among the best on the market, as evidenced by its 80 Titanium certification. Of course, cable management is modular, and everything you need to connect a high-end configuration is included:

  • 1x 24-pin ATX
  • 3x 4-pin CPU
  • 2x 12V-2×6
  • 6xPCIe 6+2-pin
  • 18x SATA
  • 3x Molex

Internally, we find a solid construction based on Japanese 105°C capacitors. In addition, all electrical protections are present: OCP, OPP, OTP, OVP, SCP, and UVP. There is also a single 12V rail rated at 133.3A, compliant with ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.1 standards. In short, it’s the best of the best.

What we think:

For our part, we’re not going to beat around the bush for 107 years, because this is an excellent power supply. Thanks to its high power and efficiency, you’ll have what you need to power large configurations. In fact, this power supply can handle the load of two RTX 5090s while still having a little margin for the CPU, especially since its Noctua fan ensures an excellent level of silence.

The build quality is also top-notch, and we appreciate the presence of strand-by-strand sheathed cables in the brand’s colors. What’s more, the combs are even included in the accessories.

Finally, the disadvantages mainly concern the design, since, as we know, Noctua knows it and the brand knows that we know it, but not everyone likes brown/beige. The other disadvantage is the price tag, which at €499 is clearly not within everyone’s budget. However, this is offset by its 12-year warranty!

Finally, we hope to see a potential V2 version, in which the NF-A12x25 would be replaced by an NF-A12x25 G2, offering improved performance and reduced noise levels.
