The Framework brand has announced a new product linked to AMD Ryzen AI Max processors. The brand is working on mini-PCs in ITX format using these processors. In the maximum configuration, we’re talking about a machine equipped with a 16c/32t model housed in a 3.5l case that can be customised using tiles that can be placed anywhere on the front!
Framework: ITX PCs based on Ryzen AI Max!
With this PC, the brand is offering different configurations that are currently open for pre-order. However, the company is proceeding in waves of dispatch to the fourth batch. In short, these mini-PCs are equipped with AMD processors, with Ryzen AI Max 385 and AI Max 395. At best, we’re looking at PCs with a 16-core, 32-thread CPU backed up by a total of 128GB of unified, non-upgradeable LPDDR5X .
There’s no dedicated graphics card here, but the Max 395’s RADEON 8060S is more than up to the task. As we’ve seen, it rivals dedicated mobile GPUs from NVIDIA.
The whole package is housed on a mini-ITX motherboard with an on-board cooling system. This is compatible with 120mm PC fans. An illustration shows an exploded machine with Cooler Master Mobius and Noctua NF-A14x25 G2 fans. On the internal storage side, there are two M.2 slots, with options for 8TB SSDs via WD_Black SN850X!
At the time of purchase, you’ll have several options for personalising your case. There’s a choice of coloured tiles that you can place on the front of the case. Some even feature original designs.
What’s more, an expansion card system is also available, allowing you to add a network chip, Wi-Fi, SD card reader, etc. Additional costs range from €10 for an extra USB-C port to €45 for 2.5 GbE Ethernet. Storage is even available: €140 for 1 TB. Note that these extensions use a USB 3.2 Gen2 interface.
Prices will obviously depend on your configuration. However, the starting price for a Ryzen Max 285 with 32GB of RAM is €1,279. This rises to €1,859 with a Ryzen Max 395 and 64GB of RAM, and €2,329 with the Max 395 and 128GB of RAM.
