Endgame for GeForce GTX 600 and GTX 700

After almost 11 years of loyal service, Nvidia has just announced that its GeForce 496.13 WHQL graphics drivers will no longer support the Nvidia Kepler architecture, i.e. all GeForce GTX 600 and GeForce GTX 700 series GPUs.

The other highlight of these new drivers is that from now on, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems will no longer be supported. The next drivers of the chameleon will therefore only be operational on Windows 10 and Windows 11. If we put these “details” aside, we will notice the extreme longevity of the GTX 600 and 700, some of the latter still running in certain configurations without demeriting. Beyond this nostalgic sequence, the new driver brings its share of improvements and in particular “a rich bug” that occurred with RTX 3080 owners. Indeed, the latter combined with two Samsung Odyssey G70A 28″ monitors prevented the system from starting… There is also a list of important corrections with many points related to the arrival of Windows 11: Problems with Windows 10/11:

  • [Doom Eternal] [HDR] [FSR] : Eternal] : The texture of the whole game is darkened and cannot be played after enabling HDR + FSR. [200776916]

  • Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed may crash when players cross water. [3338967]
  • [HDR] [G-Sync]: mouse pointer sticks after enabling HDR from the Windows control panel or after enabling G-Sync from the Nvidia control panel. [200762998]
  • [NVIDIA Control Panel]: after setting the display multiplexer type to “dGPU”, the settings are not retained when rebooting or resuming from S4. [200779758]
  • [Windows 11]: screen goes blank when switching to full screen with G-Sync enabled. [200778687]
