EK has not wasted any time, as they have just announced the upcoming arrival of an EK-Quantum Velocity² waterblock compatible with the AM5 socket. As a reminder, the AM5 socket will be the one that will equip the next AMD motherboards based on the X670(E) and B650(E) chipset.

This new waterblock has been designed specifically for the future AM5 socket and thus, for Ryzen 7000 series processors, and is compatible with the EK-Matrix7 standard. For several months, their components have adopted a space between ports, the height of connections or thickness with a multiple of 7 mm. This approach facilitates the creation of “rigid” type cooling loop.

The Velocity² cooling zone has been optimized for Ryzen 7000 series processors to ensure the best cooling performance and optimal coolant flow. AM5 motherboards will adopt a new backplate which requires a new mounting system.

This new EK-Quantum Velocity² AM5 waterblock will be available in several finishes with prices ranging from 126 to 201 euros. Regarding availability, EK announces the start of shipments for mid-October. In view of the excellent performance of the LGA-1700 version, we will try to get our hands on one.
