Core Ultra 300: only K and KF refreshed!

It’s certainly been a bumpy ride for Intel and its Arrow Lake Refresh processors. Initially cancelled (according to rumours), then put back on track, today we learn that the Core Ultra 300 could well see the light of day in the form of K and KF processors. The non-K models would then remain as they are, with Intel not planning any changes. Of course, all this should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Clearly, the Core Ultra 200 refresh is well and truly on the cards, and will arrive in the form of unlocked/overclockable processors. However, we still don’t know what improvements will be made. While some were talking about improvements to the NPU (boosting performance from 13 to 48 TOPs), we can also imagine an improvement in frequencies… Which is very likely to happen.

The good news in this story is that the processors will still benefit from the blue LGA-1851 socket before a potential change in 2026 with Nova Lake, but this has yet to be confirmed.

In the meantime, for Intel, the idea of launching a few refresh processors is not a bad one, as it would allow the blue to offer something between now and next year. The fact is, 2026 is not around the corner, especially as without this intermediate generation, the desktop sector would be empty compared to mobile. In the meantime, we’ll have time to see Panther Lake and Nova Lake.

What’s more, at the same time, the Blues will be launching new performance profiles for current Arrow Lake processors. These will be aimed at OEMs and system integrators to help them get the most out of their assemblies. Note that these profiles will not affect the warranty.

In short, a new batch of Core Ultra that seems to be mainly aimed at overclockers. Yes, let’s not forget that an unlocked processor is mainly used for overclocking. If you’re not interested in overclocking, non-K models are the way to go.
