The Core 9 273PQE has finally been tested in game and compared to the Core i9 14900K. Indeed, a certain Zed Up reached into his wallet and purchased the CPU in question, as well as a compatible motherboard. An expensive solution, but one that allows us to see for ourselves what this CPU has to offer. It was tested in conditions that put the CPU to the test, i.e. in low resolution and on CPU-intensive titles.

Core 9 273PQE: a gaming test at last!

Up to 10% better than Core i9 14900K :

Core 9 273PQE Monster Hunter Wilds

Don’t expect a full panel of games, no, the CPU was put to the test on Horizon Zero Dawn, Monster Hunter Wilds Benchmark, Rainbow Six Siege, Outcast 1.1, Shadow of the Tomb Raider Benchmark and Counter-Strike 2. Most of the time, the game ran at 1280×720, except on Outcast and Counter-Strike 2. The aim here is to put the CPU to the test while limiting the impact on the GPU.

In concrete terms, the Core 9 doesn’t do too badly, posting gains of over 9% on Outcast 1.1 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider Benchmark, for example. On Horizon Zero Dawn and Monster Hunter Wilds Benchmark, the results are 5.4% and 5.9% respectively in favor of Core 9. On Rainbow Six Siege, however, there were no concrete gains, and the Core i9 14900K even managed to offer a better minimum framerate . Finally, on Counter-Strike 2, the 14900K does even better than the Core 9.

All P-Core in the Core 9!

The special feature of the Core 9 273PQE is that it uses ONLY P-Core, not E-Core or hybrid architecture like the Core i Raptor Lake, for example. In fact, it’s this design that makes the duel interesting, since the CPU tested features twelve P-Cores, a turbo frequency of 5.9 GHz, a 36 MB L3 cache and a TDP of 125W.

However, this CPU is not intended for sale in the consumer sector, and is aimed at the embedded sector in particular. Zed Up paid €725 for its CPU, while the motherboard, an ASRock IMB-X1714, cost €340. It’s worth noting that support projects for consumer motherboards have been launched by the PC community!
