[Computex] Corsair shows a Sim Racing prototype

If you follow Corsair and/or Sim Racing, you’ll know that the brand is trying to buy Fanatec. To tell the truth, it’s only a matter of time now, as the two companies are in exclusive negotiations. So, is the presence of a Sim Racing prototype on the Corsair stand a sign that things are moving forward, or simply that the company already had plans in mind? Perhaps it’s simply a sign that this hitherto marginal gaming segment (essentially PC) is on the move.

Corsair waits for Fanatec and shows us a Sim Racing chassis

Recently, we saw Thermaltake take the plunge, and at CES earlier this year we were able to test Cooler Master’s products, which feature highly advanced solutions… In short, Sim Racing is leaving its niche side and its ecosystem is expanding.

Although Corsair’s show at Computex is still only a prototype, it is already at a very advanced stage. It’s a tubular chassis with a hybrid design, offering a wide range of adjustment possibilities. The strong point is that it allows easy changes between a semi-reclined position for Formula 1-style racing and an upright position for GT-style racing. However, what we’re seeing here doesn’t offer any real differentiation from what’s already on offer in the sector. Of course, and not surprisingly, all accessories from the steering wheel to the pedals and shifter come from Fanatec.

Perhaps we’ll have to wait a little longer for the takeover to become official to see how Corsair intends to tackle this very special sector.
