The Dual series from ASUS is definitely one of the brand’s most prolific ranges. We’ve lost count of the number of cards available in this RTX 40 and RX 7000 generation. Between the original models, the black/white or white versions, the more compact overhauled models, etc., there’s clearly plenty to choose from. Now the brand is offering us an RTX 4070 Dual equipped with GDDR6 memory!
RTX 4070 Dual: a GDDR6 version!
No, it’s not a mistake, ASUS is offering a 4070 with GDDR6. This model exists in response to a very real shortage of GDDR6X chips, which are particularly used in the NVIDIA range. We can imagine that the reason the Chameleon is offering a card with slower memory is to avoid impacting on higher-end models like the RTX 4090, for example.
In short, the ASUS card is a classic Dual model with a heatsink specific to the series. The card is 2.5 slots thick and 22.7 cm long. It has a dual fan cooling system and a backplate.
There are two schools of thought when it comes to frequencies:
- Non-OC card:
- Boost to 2475 MHz
- OC mode (via ASUS software) at 2505 MHz
- OC card :
- Boost to 2520 MHz
- OC mode (via ASUS software) at 2550 MHz
Finally, the connectivity features a DisplayPort video output coupled with HDMI. As for the power supply, this is via an 8-pin PCIe rather than a 12VHPWR.
