ASRock’s server division, ASRock Rack, has launched a new motherboard. The model in question is none other than the W890D8UD-1L1N2T/BCM, a barbaric reference for a motherboard in µATX format. µATX indeed, but with a LGA-4677 socket ! Now that’s more impressive!

This card is a very special model. Not only is it a server platform, it’s also a board in µATX format… Well, deep micro-ATX , which means it’s a little wider and a little higher than a conventional µATX board.
Nevertheless, in this format, ASRock manages to fit a LGA-4677 socket and eight memory slots. The latter can accommodate up to 2TB(RDIMM-3DS 4H) of ECC RAM running at 4800 MT/s. There are also four PCIe x16 5.0 connectors, all wired in x16.
The storage section remains gentle, with the presence of four SATA IIIs. There’s also an M.2 2280 in PCIe 4.0 x4 and three OCuLink in PCIe 4.0 x4, one of which provides access to four additional SATAs .
On the rear, the board features two USB-A 3.2 Gen1 and a UID button with LED. There’s also a VGA output and a serial port. As for Ethernet, it’s party time with no less than four ports. Among them, two are driven by Broadcom BCM57416 in 15 GbE. The other two will run on 2.5 GbE Intel i226 and 1 GbE Intel I210, the latter being used for IPMI functions.
