As for ASRock, it’s worth noting that the company released—likely inadvertently—a press release regarding the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2. The company states that the CPU will be compatible with its entire lineup of AM5 motherboards and that a simple BIOS update will be all that’s needed to take advantage of it. However, there is still a slight scheduling issue, as the date mentioned in the press release does not match the current status regarding this CPU.
Ryzen 9 9950X3D2: the CPU confirmed by ASRock!
This CPU is something of a mystery, as we hear about it regularly, but it still hasn’t been launched. In fact, some manufacturers seemed ready to announce it at CES this year, but nothing came of it. Broadly speaking, with this CPU, we expect AMD to launch a new flagship model featuring 16 cores and 32 threads. However, the big news concerns the 3D V-Cache memory present on both CCDs, rather than just one as is currently the case.
This time, it’s ASRock confirming support for this new processor via BIOS updates. The good news is that all AM5 motherboards in its catalog will support this model. Thus, the A620, B650(E), X670(E), B840, B850, and X870(E) models are announced as fully compatible.
Unfortunately, there’s a slight catch to this story, as the press release dated March 16 doesn’t match the current market situation. The brand describes the processor as “newly launched,” yet as of this date, AMD has not yet released it. In fact, current rumors suggest a launch is planned for the end of March… But again, these are just rumors.
In short, the wait for this new model shouldn’t be much longer.
