As we mentioned previously, AMD’s conference for financial analysts brought its share of interesting information. But let’s focus on the Ryzen processors, for which the arrival of the Zen 6 generation is emphatically announced for 2026… It’s not quite so obvious from what we saw. AMD unveiled a roadmap for its processors, presenting the arrival of its future Zen 6 and Zen 7 architectures. As expected, AMD didn’t really release much information on its next-generation processors. However, AMD has confirmed that Zen 6 will be etched in 2 nm by TSMC. Zen 6 and Zen 7 were announced as making strong progress on AI processing thanks to the integration of new, improved features. Where things get nebulous is on the timing of Zen 6’s arrival.

Zen 6 architecture in 2026….Ryzen in 2027?

If the graphic doesn’t leave much doubt as to when Zen 6 will arrive, AMD’s details may confuse some people. The Reds have specified the timing for Ryzen: Gorgon Point, a Zen 5 refresh, is announced for 2026, while Medusa Point processors based on Zen 6 will arrive in 2027. For the record, we’ve been talking about Gorgon Point for a while now, although we’re still lacking details. We do know, however, that it’s a “simple” update of Strix Point. The same Zen 5 processor architecture, the same RDNA 3.5 configuration and, a priori, the same XDNA 2 NPU will be retained. The higher frequencies should enable a gain in AI processing and a few crumbs for the rest. Medusa Point will take over in 2027.

However, neither Gorgon Point nor Medusa Point are the Ryzen processors we were especially looking forward to hearing about. In the end, it seems that AMD is continuing to keep its cards close to its chest. During the conference, AMD made it clear that it will reveal more information about Zen 6 closer to the launch of its next-generation products. It is therefore possible that an announcement will be made at CES 2026 in the coming weeks. In short, despite our optimism on this Financial Analyst day, we’re still not satisfied.
