We were talking about it yesterday but this time, it’s good, the RADEON W7900 from AMD is now officially announced by the brand… In addition to this card, we also find the announcement of the Pro W7800, a model with a smaller GPU.

RADEON Pro W7900 and W7800, cards announced at $4000 and $2500 ! AMD RADEON Pro W7900 - W7800With its new pro series, AMD opts for GPUs of the latest generation. Indeed, the reds choose the NAVI 31 for the W7900 and a chip difficult to determine for the W7800. In any case, the brand passes its professional solutions under the RDNA 3.0 architecture.

In the context of the 7900, we have a similar configuration to the RX 7900 XTX. The card has 6144 stream processors via 96 compute units. The card then has a full Navi 31 GPU. Regarding memory, we still have a 384-bit bus, but the amount of VRAM is doubled compared to its counterpart all public. As you can see, the card now goes to 48GB of GDDR6 ECC.

Regarding the Pro W7800, we know that the card has either a smaller GPU (Navi 32?), or a castrated Navi 31. The card then has 70 compute units and 4480 stream processors. The memory part is also less impressive since there is only 32 GB of GDDR6 with a 256-bit memory bus. Moreover, this configuration can give an information about what could be a hypothetical RX 7800 for the general public.

RADEON Pro W7900Anyway, we have two cards designed to run at 2500 MHz in boost. In terms of TDP, the first 7900 displays 295W against 260W for the second.

However, what is interesting here is the selling price since the RADEON Pro W7900 is announced at $3999 against $2499 for the RADEON Pro W7800. As we have seen recently, the 7900 seems to be position behind the RTX 6000 Ada Generation however, it costs much less. Moreover, we could have a glimpse of its performance on a single test… Not necessarily representative of the overall performance of the card. As a reminder, the NVIDIA card is offered at $6800!
