We once again heard about the Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F at the AI PC Innovation Summit in China. These processors have now been officially confirmed and should first be found on the Chinese market. Beware, then, that we’re not really talking about “new products” with these two references. These processors are in fact Phoenix APUs whose RDNA 3 GPU part has been deactivated. But in detail, these two processors are quite different.
The Ryzen 7 8700F features AMD Zen 4 architecture and an 8-core, 16-threadconfiguration . These cores are accompanied by 16 MB of cache memory. The processor is said to have a TDP of 65W. In terms of frequencies, for the moment there’s no certainty, but we could have base frequencies of around 4.20 GHz and Turbo frequencies of 5.10 GHz. These are the frequencies of the AMD Ryzen 7 8700G, officially priced at $329. This iGPU-less version will therefore normally be more affordable.
The Ryzen 5 8400F is special in that it features a hybrid architecture. This processor will feature 6 cores and 12 threads . In detail, we’ll have 2 high-performance Zen 4 cores and 4 low-power Zen 4c cores. The base frequency will be around 3.55 GHz and the Turbo frequency should reach 5.00 GHz.
Although no official information has yet been released confirming that AMD will be distributing these two processors outside China, this is a very likely hypothesis.
