AMD has announced yet another price increase, this time not for graphics cards, but for processors. Indeed, unexpectedly, AMD has increased the selling price of its Ryzen CPUs. So, for a while, this increase may not be visible, while resellers clear out their current batches… But it’s going to happen, and there’s no getting around it.

AMD raises CPU prices!

According to our colleague, AMD has raised the selling price of its processors. As a result, wholesalers will have to pay a surcharge on the purchase of AMD Ryzen 9000 processors, as well as older models such as Ryzen 7000 or Ryzen 8000 APUs. For the moment, it’s not clear how much this increase will amount to, but according to the latest reports, it has indeed taken place.

The reasons for the price hike are also unclear. Some suggest that wafer costs may have risen, and this would seem plausible.

We know it’s going up, but we don’t know why…

In any case, 2025 is a very complicated year for PC hardware. Between the painful launch of the RX 9000 and RTX 5000, the insane price hikes for RAM, and now this surprise rise in CPU prices… Building a PC is getting more and more expensive. And we haven’t even mentioned the upcoming AMD GPU price hike . NVIDIA may not be spared either, so watch this space.

In the meantime, these increases come just after the big November promotions. It’s a rather dishonest way of passing on price increases unnoticed. It’s like raising taxes on petrol when the barrel of oil is at its lowest.
