AMD’s price increase will be at least 10%!

Last week, we learned that AMD was planning to increase the prices of its graphics cards. This increase, which was merely a rumor, was later confirmed by PowerColor. And this time, we know the percentage increase that the brand’s cards will undergo. An increase that comes at a bad time (it always comes at a bad time), since the brand’s cards were finally starting to become affordable again… Or at least, they were gradually reaching their MSRP!

At least 10% increase in AMD graphics card prices!

RX 9000 MSRP

We’ve heard it all before: strong demand from the artificial intelligence sector has sent memory prices through the roof. As the price of DDR5 soars, so does that of GDDR. Companies have no choice but to catch up on costs, and this means higher prices from AMD. If until now we didn’t know how much this increase was going to be, now we do, and we’ll have to reckon with a surcharge of at least 10%.

It’s clear that this generation of cards has taken a beating since its launch at the beginning of the year. Indeed, when the RX 9000 arrived, stock shortages meant that the cards were sold at prices disconnected from their MSRP… This made them look like launch promotions. For several weeks now, prices have been on the decline, gradually reaching their MSRP. As we’ve seen in recent promotions, the RX 9070 XT XFX could be found for €646 on Alternate, for example… Unthinkable at launch.

But the market being what it is, the party will be short-lived, as prices are set to rise again. Once again, if you’re planning to buy a graphics card, don’t delay, or risk seeing prices rise again. It’s definitely a bad time.
