Amazon’s cooler can cool a CPU consuming 200W

At early last month we learned that Amazon was going to launch a new heatsink on the market. Indeed, the American company offers us its Basics CPU Cooler, a soberly named heatsink. The information is that the cooler has been tested by our colleagues at Tom’s Hardware. The results show that the heatsink is capable of cooling a CPU consuming nearly 200W!

The Amazon Basics CPU Cooler is capable of cooling a CPU consuming up to 200W!

As a reminder, with its CPU Cooler, the American company offers a cooler similar to a Cooler Master H410R. In any case, it has the same shape as it is a small heatsink with a 92 mm fan. The heatsink features a simple tower of aluminum fins crossed by four copper heat pipes of 6 mm each. These are found at the base where they will come into direct contact with the CPU.

With this, we have a 92 mm fan powered by a PWM signal. It operates from 600 rpm to 2000 rpm while generating an airflow of 34.73 CFM at full. Regarding the static pressure, it reaches 1.86 mmH2O.

Finally, what interests us is the performance obtained by this little guy, because at 26.63 €, we are quite curious. So our colleagues have mounted the heatsink on their 13900K and have conducted a battery of tests. In the end, it turns out that the heatsink can cool a processor consuming around 200W, 198.1W precisely. If the value seems accurate, it is because on their 200W profile, the heatsink did not quite hold because of the ambient temperature of the room at 23°C. To pass the 200W test, the ambient temperature had to be lowered to 20°C.

In short, the result is not bad considering the price of $28 and the nature of the fan. As a backup heatsink or for a small configuration, it does the job.
