AMD seems to be working on a new X3D processor. However, this would not be a model for the consumer sector, but one for professionals. We’re talking about the Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D, which appeared on Passmark. However, we’re not quite sure what we’re dealing with here, since CPU detection is not perfect.
Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D: a CPU for the professional sector!
16 cores and 3D V-Cache!
With this processor, AMD is working on a model with a total of 16 cores and 32 threads. However, we don’t know what the final cache configuration will be, since the Passmark only recognizes 32 MB of L3, a much smaller capacity than is usually offered with this type of CPU. In the consumer sector, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D boasts 128 MB of L3: 2×32 MB per CCD and 64 MB via the addition of a 3D V-Cache array. In contrast, the 9950X3D2 boasts 192 MB of L3 thanks to its two 64 MB 3D V-Cache arrays + the 2×32 MB per CCD.
In terms of memory, the software detects a frequency of 4.3 GHz, in line with what the Reds are offering with the 9950X3D. As for TDP, we can expect a thermal envelope of 170W, but this remains to be proven.
A CPU for professionals!
With this CPU, we expect AMD to offer a new model aimed at the professional sector. These include workstations, enterprise management systems and business PCs. To this end, we expect more advanced protection mechanisms than those found on conventional Ryzens, as well as support for AMD Pro (technology equivalent to Intel vPro).
Of course, prices are not yet known, especially as the CPU is not correctly detected by the software.
