According to NVIDIA, the RTX 5090 is still in production!

On October 13, we reported that the RTX 5090 might be discontinued. At the time, these were just rumors, but they suggested that NVIDIA was reserving production of its GB202 chips for professional graphics cards like the RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell. Although certain clues seemed to be piling up, NVIDIA shattered those claims during the RTX Spark launch event in Taipei.

Is the RTX 5090 on its way out? NVIDIA denies it!

But NVIDIA does not deny the supply constraints surrounding the RTX 5090:

These rumors were therefore denied by Jeff Fisher, NVIDIA’s Senior Vice President, during the RTX Spark launch event in Taipei. He stated:

“The supply chain (production capacity) is indeed somewhat constrained, but NVIDIA is doing everything it can to bring it to market. Although there are other versions of the RTX 5090 chip, production of the RTX 5090 itself has certainly not been halted. NVIDIA continues to ship it. That’s very important.”

NVIDIA thus acknowledges that the card is currently experiencing supply issues, which partly explains the prices currently being seen for this model. In France, on Amazon, the TUF version costs €7,000, while in the U.S., depending on the model—on Newegg, for example—it exceeds $10,000.

In addition to the high price, the challenge will be finding the card in stock. For one thing, this model is prone to theft, with pallets of cards mysteriously disappearing…

Furthermore, NVIDIA hasn’t commented on the fact that certain AI-focused companies are buying massive quantities of cards to power their servers, nor on whether production might be prioritized for gamers. It’s worth noting, however, that the GeForce lineup was originally intended primarily for gamers. Professionals can turn to the RTX Pro series, among other options.
